i4KIDS Takes Part in a Collaborative Meeting of Catalonia’s R&D&I Networks

The eleven R&D&I networks promoted by the Government of Catalonia recently met at CosmoCaixa for a day focused on sharing experiences, strengthening synergies, and reflecting on how to advance the transformation of research into social and economic impact. The event, organised with the support of the Department of Research and Universities, brought together representatives from all the networks and provided a space to discuss challenges, opportunities, and approaches for the upcoming 2026–2029 period.
A space to drive knowledge transfer and collaboration
The opening session featured institutional contributions that highlighted the strategic role of the networks within Catalonia’s innovation ecosystem. Javier Selva, Director General for Knowledge Transfer and Secretary for Knowledge at the Department of Research and Universities, underlined the expansion of the programme for the new period, as well as the added value these structures bring by connecting multidisciplinary teams, accelerating projects, and identifying social needs that require innovative solutions.

Throughout the day, three round tables were held focusing on different aspects of knowledge transfer: the role of the networks as instruments to drive emerging projects; the need to strengthen hybrid profiles that combine research and entrepreneurship; and the challenges associated with non‑technological transfer and its social impact.
i4KIDS’ participation in the round table on transfer networks
i4KIDS took an active part in the first round table, which examined the role of the networks as engines for transfer. Lluís Cassou, Innovation Project Manager of the hub, represented the network and shared i4KIDS’ experience in promoting innovation projects in the paediatric and maternal health fields, highlighting the importance of creating spaces for collaboration and visibility for early‑stage initiatives.

During the session, participants highlighted the importance of fostering greater interconnection between networks, as well as creating environments that enable the exchange of knowledge and learnings to accelerate the development of research‑based solutions.
Moving towards a more connected ecosystem
The day underscored the fundamental role of the R&D&I networks as catalysts for impact, encouraging cooperation between institutions, research groups, companies and key system stakeholders. These meetings help align strategies, identify opportunities for collaboration, and build a more integrated ecosystem oriented towards knowledge transfer.
For i4KIDS, taking part in this session reaffirms its commitment to driving innovation in paediatric and maternal‑infant health, as well as to strengthening an ecosystem that supports projects with the potential to generate real social impact.
